General description

Human insulin is a peptide hormone, composed of 51 amino acids, produced by beta cells of the pancreatic islets. Insulin levels are routinely measured to evaluate insulin production; diagnose insulin-producing tumors; determine hypoglycemia or to identify insulin resistance.
